Policies

In order to provide you with the best possible care, it is important that you have a clear understanding of my practice/office/administrative policies. Please read and review the information below and let me know if you have any questions.

APPOINTMENTS

Sessions are generally 50 minutes in length (one client hour). Sessions can be extended to 75 minutes (1 ½ client hour) or 100 minutes (2 client hours). Extended sessions are charged on a prorated basis using your hourly fee. All cancellations require a full 36-hour notice in order to avoid a charge equal to the amount of the time scheduled. It is always better to reschedule a session than to cancel at the last minute.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Except where disclosure is required by law, all information disclosed within a session and all written records are confidential and may not be revealed without your express written permission. Therapists are required by law to report any suspicion of child abuse, elder abuse or imminent threats of harm to self or others.

FEES

Fees are determined during the initial phone contact, prior to your first appointment. Fees are due and payable at the time of each visit. Payment can be made by cash, personal check or Zelle.  Increases in fees occur annually.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

There are additional charges for phone conversations, consultations, site visits, report writing, letters, record reviews, emails, texts, travel, billing and administrative requests. These charges will be prorated based on ten-minute increments using your (50-minute per hour) fee.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT

If you need to make phone contact between scheduled sessions you may text me at (628) 587-1539. Non urgent messages will be returned as soon as possible. Please indicate the nature of your problem, where you can be reached and the best times to return your call.

EMAIL CONTACT

Because therapy is about the human connection, whether that be in person, on the telephone or via computer, that is the first priority. If you choose to email, understand that it may take five to seven business days for me to respond. Emails, as indicated above, will be read, researched and written on a prorated basis based on ten-minute increments using your (50-minute per hour) fee.

EMERGENCIES

In a psychiatric emergency you may contact Marin Community Mental Health Psychiatric Emergency Services at (415) 473-6666 or the County of Marin’s Mobile Crisis Response Team at (415) 473-6392. You can also reach the Police at 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room and ask for help.
